Abstract

Law No. 14,611, enacted on July 3, 2023, amends the Consolidation of Labor Laws (CLT) to promote wage equality between men and women. This law aims to ensure equal pay for work of equal value, regardless of gender, and introduces significant penalties for companies that fail to comply with the new rules. This study used a mixed methodological approach, combining doctrinal and legislative analysis to evaluate the initial impact of Law No. 14,611/2023 on reducing gender disparities in the Brazilian labor market. The research covered legislation and literature on the subject, allowing for an in-depth understanding of the context and normative evolution related to wage equality. Additionally, collective bargaining was highlighted as a crucial tool for the law's effectiveness, as well as Resolution No. 492 of the National Council of Justice, which mandates adherence to the Protocol for Judgment with a Gender Perspective within the Judiciary, especially in cases related to women's work and remuneration. This resolution is an important tool for ensuring gender equality in the workplace. Although Law No. 14,611/2023 represents a significant advancement, its effectiveness will depend on a coordinated effort between the government, employers, unions, and civil society to eliminate the barriers that perpetuate wage inequality, ensuring that gender equality becomes a concrete reality in the Brazilian labor market.
